Policies

Office Hours:

Our office hours are generally 8:30 a.m. until 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday with our lunch hour between 12:00 and 1:00. On Saturday mornings we usually have a nurse and doctor available to take emergent phone calls and to see a patient if needed.

Cancellations and No Shows:

If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please cancel in time to allow us to accommodate another patient who may need to be seen (we do have a charge for missed appointments).

Nurse/Doctor on Call:

A pediatrician from Kent Pediatrics is on call 24 hours per day, seven days a week to answer urgent or emergent health care questions. On most week day evenings one of our trained nurses will take the call and refer to the doctor on call as needed (there is a charge associated with our after hours emergency phone service to help defray our costs).

Phone Nurse:

A trained phone nurse is always available during office hours to answer your concerns. The nurse will consult with one of the pediatricians as needed in answering your specific questions.

Well Child Exam:

If your child has a chronic illness, please request that he or she sees their primary care physician for their well-child exams. Effective October 1, 2015, changes in legislation require that any care provided outside of a standard well check up will need to be documented and billed separately and will involve a copay.

Prescription Refills:

Please allow 24 hours for routine written prescription refills Monday through Friday.

Urgent Care:

We request that you do not use an urgent care facility without calling our office first. These centers are usually not staffed by pediatricians and are not familiar with your child’s specific history. In addition, we often can not get records of your visit.

Emergencies:

If your child has a life-threatening emergency, such that you cannot wait for a return phone call from the doctor, please dial 911 or go directly to the emergency room at Spectrum Health Butterworth.
