Well Child Exam
Well Child visits are regularly scheduled appointments where we discuss age-appropriate developmental issues, family issues including an updated family disease history, growth and nutrition, and age-related safety issues.
Your child’s immunization record will be reviewed and immunizations will be given following the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Because we care for the health and safety of your child and all of our patients, we require that you adhere to these recommendations. If you chose to decline vaccines or follow an “alternative” schedule, we ask that you seek another pediatric practice.
Recommended Well Child Visits include:
- Newborn
- 2 Weeks
- 2 Months
- 4 Months
- 6 Months
- 9 Months
- 12 Months
- 15 Months
- 18 Months
- 24 Months
- 30 Months
- 36 Months
- Annually thereafter
Sick Child Visit
Call 616-784-9400 as early in the day as possible to schedule a sick child appointment. We have open scheduling and save spots every day for sick children. We realize children can get sick quickly, and we feel it is important to see and evaluate them in the office before prescribing medications.
Behavioral Health
Visits for behavioral health (i.e. ADD and depression) generally require extended appointment times, which we can often schedule within a couple weeks. In many cases paperwork may need to be filled out and other physician documents will need to be received in office before scheduling these appointments. Exceptions to this policy will be made as circumstances indicate.
Life-threatening Emergencies
If your child has a life-threatening illness or injury, call 911 or take him or her to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital or the nearest emergency facility.
